The HIstory Of NAPRAPATHY

Naprapathy was founded in 1907 by Dr. Oakley Smith. It has remained popular in parts of Scandinavia, including Sweden, Finland, and Norway. In the United States, modern professional education and clinical training has been supported by institutions such as Southwest University of Naprapathic Medicine (SUNM)

Smith discovered that the cause of pain and dysfunction in our muscles, nervous system, bone structure, and joints (the neuromusculoskeletal system) was primarily due changes  in the connective tissues and tension in our soft tissues, rather than subluxation in the skeletal structures. He originated the work of Naprapathy based on that understanding.

DEfining Naprapathy

Naprapathy is defined as “a system of drug free therapy employing manipulation of connective tissue (ligaments, muscles, and joints) and dietary measures said to facilitate the recuperative and regenerative processes of the body.

Naprapathy views the human being in a holistic manner: as an integration of body, mind and spirit. The body is approached as. The goal is to restore the individual’s wellness so they may return to a pain-free, active lifestyle. Each profession enters the same chamber, our body, through different doors but for the same purpose and intention, improving health.

The Difference between Naprapathy and Chiropractic Treatments

Naprapathy differs from Chiropractic in that the naprapathic doctor usually does not use high velocity or intense pressure to adjust skeletal alignment. Gentle and precise attention to the fascia, muscle and other connective tissues prepares the skeletal system for gentle adjustments which it is prepped to maintain. The naprapathic treatment approach provides a gradually deepening correction that releases the originating trauma, thereby minimizing the frequency of treatment needed for the body to maintain harmonious skeletal alignment.

After your Naprapathic treament (typically 50-60 minutes) we may introduce you to simple exercises that you can take home, empowering you to improve postural issues and strengthen your renewed harmony.

The New Mexico Legislature has passed a resolution to study Naprapathy as one of several non-pharmeceutical approaches to pain relief.

What To Expect During Naprapathic Treatment Sessions

In a naprapathic session, we can help to reduce or eliminate the need for pain medication when there’s repetitive stress syndrome, chronic pain from accidents, emotional trauma, and post-surgical pain.

Treatment is gentle, precise, and always tailored to your presentation and comfort level. As pain and tensions release, energy is available for the body’s functions. A variety of health concerns respond well to this unique kind of integrative health treatment.

Dr. Broshi helps patients regain optimal well-being in their reproductive functions (menstrual cycles, fertility, pregnancy, post-partum and menopause), sexual functions, respiratory, digestive, vascular, memory and other brain functions. and immune functions.

He also treats athletes to improve performance, and to help heal sports injuries and relieve pain. People of all ages benefit from gentle Naprapathy manual therapy and Jin Shin Jyutsu energy balancing.

Uzi Broshi Hummingbird Integrative Health Doctor of Naprapathy Jin Shin Jyutsu

Mary Burmeister, who brought Jin Shin Jyutsu to the West, said, “Age is as Circulation is”. After decades of physical labor I found, in my late ‘40s, new flexibility (balance between energetic and muscular aspects of being) through yoga.

Regular exercise (yoga, cycling, running and hiking), in tandem with daily Jin Shin Jyutsu self-care, eradicated a health issue for which I’d been told I’d always need medication.

Naprapathy

Naprapathy has taught me about the amazing design of our body’s anatomy and biomechanics and hands-on techniques that speak directly to the body’s ability to correct, rehabilitate and regenerate.

My aspiration is to serve each client’s fulfillment of their potential by improving the quality of their life.
